Adventure is always full of surprises that can be good and also bad. During a climb to the alps in one of northern California's dense mountains and forest, Trinity Alps, things started off gently and beutiful. On the first day, the sky was blue and the deer where out and about. On the second day, the sky was on fire, and no animal was out at all. The nearby mountain, Shasta, was being taken over by a wild fire. Unfortunately the smoke from the fire covered our mountain, and while being nine miles up a mountain was not a good thing. There was no sky, and the color of the world turned to an apocalyptic orange and red. It was getting harder to breathe and see more than a couple feet ahead. During times of uncertainty, the mind seems to work twice as hard to make decisions that could affect reality. During this epic smoke storm miles up a mountain, it was my time to do what I love, so I grabbed my camera and started to document inside a forest fire. Fortunately luck was on my side this day, the fire from the nearby mountain cleared and the smoke gradually left my surroundings. The sky was back to being clear and blue, and I had a photograph that is much more than just a picture. This photo represents my courage and determination as a photographer to document the good and the bad of life.
